Online Tezhip Class (Illumination) with Elif Üner
The workshop program consists of 3 levels, with each level comprising a 10-week training period. Participants who successfully complete the first level may proceed to the second level.
The lessons are recorded in a professional studio, and the recordings are edited and shared with participants in the days following each lesson.
Each weekly lesson video will remain accessible for the specified viewing period. At the end of this period, the relevant lesson will no longer be available for viewing. Therefore, participants are expected to follow the lessons within the designated period.
Participants are expected to submit their assignments before the following lesson and follow up on their assignments throughout the course. To benefit fully from the training, participants are expected to follow the lessons regularly and complete their assignments on time.
1st Level
The course will begin with an introduction to the general characteristics of Tezhip art and basic line exercises.
Floral motifs will be introduced, with particular focus on the structure, drawing techniques, and applications of each motif.
Following the introduction of the motifs, basic brush exercises will be practiced.
Brush exercises will be combined with motif applications, aiming to improve both the understanding of the drawings and the quality of craftsmanship.
Halkâr painting techniques, their varieties, and application principles will be introduced.
The Aher technique, which is necessary for preparing the surface to be used in Tezhip applications, will be taught.
Applications will be carried out on prepared patterns using different painting techniques, and the works will be completed.
The basic principles of pattern design will be introduced.
Students will be encouraged to create their own patterns and will proceed to the painting stage of their original designs.
The subject of Zencerek will be introduced, and different types of Zencerek will be presented and practiced.
2nd Level
The negative painting technique will be introduced and practiced.
An introduction to Classical Tezhip art will be given.
Classical Tezhip applications will be carried out using prepared patterns.
The Rumi motif, one of the animal-based motifs, will be introduced.
Drawing exercises focusing on the basic form of the Rumi motif and closed forms will be practiced.
3rd Level
Different types and applications of the Rumi motif will be explored.
Reproduction studies related to the subject will be carried out.
The subject of Rumi borders will be covered, with practical applications.
Based on the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the three levels, students will create and complete an artwork based on an original pattern of their own design.
Information on the Course Process
Course materials will be provided to students before each lesson.
At the beginning of each lesson, assignments from the previous lesson will be reviewed and the necessary corrections will be made.
